Following the release of the phone app PokemonGo, we decided to channel our love for this franchise by painting our take on this game. (No, we haven’t been paid to do that).

The idea of bringing a part of our childhood into the real world was a fantastic starting point. Any child who, like us, adored these colorful little monsters can’t help but recognize in these images a dream of their own, perhaps one that had been dormant, namely, the dream of seeing their adventure companions in real life.
A nature photograph, then, but of a nature that doesn’t exist.
Pokemon watching; mountain goats
Pokemon: Skiddo and Gogoat. Location: Forte Pozzacchio, Italy.
"Skiddo is thought to be one of the first Pokémon to live in harmony with humans, it has a placid disposition. If it has sunshine and water, it doesn’t need to eat, because it can generate energy from the leaves on its back. Both Skiddo and Gogoat inhabit mountainous regions. The latter can tell how its trainer is feeling by subtle shifts in the grip on its horns. This empathetic sense lets them run as if one being."
Pokemon watching; house cats
Pokemon:Glameow and Purrloin.
"With its sharp glare, Glameow puts foes in a mild hypnotic state. It is a very fickle Pokémon. When it’s happy, it demonstrates beautiful movements of its tail, like a dancing ribbon.
Purrloin steal from people for fun, but their victims can’t help but forgive them. Their deceptively cute act is perfect."
Pokemon watching; the field of auras
Pokemon: Cutiefly.
"Cutiefly can detect the auras of living things. They search out flowers by the color and brightness of their auras and then gather their nectar and pollen. When living creatures are excited, it seems that their auras resemble those of flowers in full bloom. As a result, these Pokémon tend to gather near people or Pokémon feeling particularly happy or sad."
Pokemon watching; the eon siblings
Pokemon:Latios and Latias. Location: Path of the 52 Galleries, Italy.
"Latios and Latias are highly sensitive to the emotions of people, if they sense any hostility, they ruffle the feathers all over their bodies and cry shrilly to intimidate the foe. They are tender Pokémon that dislike fighting. Also they have the ability to make others see an image of what they have seen or imagined in their head."
Pokemon watching; Moomoo Milk
Pokemon:Miltank. Location: San Giorgio(Lessinia), Italy.
"Its milk is packed with nutrition, making it the ultimate beverage for the sick or weary. If Miltank is around babies, the milk it produces contains much more nutrition than usual. It is said that kids who drink Miltank’s milk grow up to become healthy adults."
Pokemon watching; the cave-dwelling family
Pokemon:Roggenrola and Gigalith. Location: Path of the 52 Galleries, Italy.
"Roggenrolas were discovered a hundred years ago in an earthquake fissure. Inside each one is an energy core. When they reach their final form, called Gigalith, they are able to absorb solar rays and process them in their energy core and fire them as a ball of light."
Pokemon watching; extraterrestrial sightings
Pokemon: Elgyem and Beheeyem. Location: Forte Pozzacchio, Italy.
"Rumors of their origin are linked to a UFO crash site in the desert 50 years ago. They are said to use their strong psychic powers to cause unendurable headaches. Apparently, they communicate by flashing their three fingers, but those patterns haven’t been decoded. "
Pokemon watching; cave encounters
Pokemon:Zubat. Location: Caves of Forte Pozzacchio, Italy.
"Zubat avoids sunlight because exposure causes it to become unhealthy. During the daytime, it stays in caves or under the eaves of old houses, sleeping while hanging upside down. Even though it has no eyes, it can sense obstacles using ultrasonic waves it emits from it mouth."
